Collaboration

This multi award winning and pioneering feature was born from the first collaboration between Jump Start Productions and MetFilm Brighton and is a true celebration of emerging talent, industry expertise and British charm.

The Captain takes viewers through the darkly comic tale of Fergus, a retired sea captain with a penchant for trouble. Leading the cast is Hollywood actor Patrick Bergin, known for Sleeping with the Enemy co-starring Julia Roberts and Patriot Games with Harrison Ford. Bergin brings Fergus to life in this quirky, character-driven film. Speaking about working within this new filmmaking framework Bergin said that “it was tremendous fun, working with a great team” from MetFilm School.

MetFilm School graduates took on key roles in the production. Reflecting on his experience, graduate co-producer Nico Augusto said; “Working on The Captain was incredible! Most film school graduates don’t get the chance to work on a feature film straight out of university, so to be a part of the journey in such a key role was truly remarkable.”

Not only does this framework enable indie filmmaking in a very difficult marketplace, but it uplifts and supports young creatives, something we are passionate about upholding. It is clear from the success of The Captain and its journey so far that we have started something special and we hope you would consider investing in our future and the next instalment; Second Serve.
